Anthony Forde talks to www.themillers.co.uk...

The Millers' Championship era may be drawing to a close but midfielder Anthony Forde insists that his Rotherham United side still have plenty to play for in the remaining weeks of the season, as they look to gain momentum ahead of next season’s League One campaign.

In recent months, the AESSEAL New York Stadium outfit have found victories hard to come by during a difficult run of form – either side of relegation being confirmed earlier this month.

Despite their Championship fate being sealed, Forde believes the players owe it to all those with a Rotherham United persuasion to finish with a flourish and ensure they go into next year’s campaign in good heart.

“We’re motivated for every game and we want to win every game,” Forde insisted.

“We are relegated but we need results. It’s important that we give something back to the club and the fans. We need to play for pride because the fans deserve that.”

With the Millers sat at the foot of the Sky Bet Championship table and the 2016/17 season nearing it’s end, the Ballingarry-born wide man admits he has one eye on next season’s potential targets.

After spending time near the summit of the League One table with Walsall, Forde is confident that his employers at AESSEAL New York Stadium have what it takes to challenge at the top of the third tier.

“It's a tough league but obviously I've played in it and have that experience. I think we'll be able to have a right go and hopefully we can come back up,” Forde explained.

“We've got a lot of young lads that will be here next year and if we can add a few more players, I think we've got a great chance.

“I know what it takes to try and get promoted from that league and as I've said, it is a tough league. We managed to get to the Play-offs when I was at Walsall and I know it takes a lot of hard work.

“It's a long season but you have to keep pushing the whole way through it and that's what we did and we earned the right to get into the Play-offs but just missed out in the last game by a point and should have really got promoted, but that happens."
