Millers sign Jordan Slew...

Rotherham United have landed the signature of striker Jordan Slew on loan from Blackburn Rovers.

Slew joined Rovers from Sheffield United on the August deadline in 2011 for £1.3million, after impressing for the Blades and made his Blackburn Rovers debut at Old Trafford later in the season. He has since had loan spells with Stevenage and Oldham Athletic where he scored in the televised Capital One Cup game against Sheffield Wednesday at the beginning of the season. The striker, who had offers from clubs higher up the football pyramid opted to spend his short term future at New York Stadium.

“Jordan is a young man who I have seen produce a number of outstanding performance,” said Millers boss Steve Evans. “I have landed him after asking the question to a number of recent Blackburn Rovers managers. Thankfully Michael Appleton has sanctioned the move. I watched Jordan on a number of occasions whilst he was on loan at Stevenage last season and on those occasions I watched him live, he was by far the best player on the pitch. He is young, has explosive pace, is powerful and has a real work-ethic which I’m sure will see the Millers support take to the lad.”

The striker played a key part in helping Sheff Utd to the FA Youth Cup final, and was noted for his early performances with a call up to the England Under 19 team to face Germany in 2011.

“It has been a long search to land a striker of this quality and he will be on the training ground with us in the morning as we prepare to face the in-form team in League Two, Northampton Town.”

A full interview will be available with Steve Evans on Millers Player tomorrow.
