Paul Warne post-Millwall...

Rotherham United boss Paul Warne hailed an excellent team performance as his side recorded a Sunday Sky Bet Championship 1-0 win over Millwall at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

The Millers manager praised his players for a good all-round showing as Sean Raggett’s first half header guided them to a precious home win over Neil Harris’ Lions.

Speaking after the game, Warne admitted that he was unable to single out any one player for praise in the post-match debrief in the dressing room debrief, with everyone impressing in the bank holiday weekend showdown.

“We reiterated to the lads after the game that they've all played a massive part in the win,” he explained.

“They all tackled, ran back, headed and put their bodies on the line and I thought it was a very Rotherham-esque performance.

“There were some outstanding performances and I don't really like to pick any one of them out. I was really pleased throughout.

“I think it was two really fit sides but there was a lot of effort.

“We ask a lot of our team obviously. I thought Smithy covered a lot of distance and I thought Willo looked back to his best today. I think it was the best performance we've seen from Will Vaulks and he looked a lot more comfortable. We're pleased with Sean getting a goal and Woody is playing really well. Marek was pretty formidable between the sticks, so considering I didn't want to mention anyone, I've done quite well there.”

Following defeat in midweek to Hull City, Warne conceded that he was conscious to ensure his side didn’t suffer the same fate on Sunday and was delighted to add three points to their second tier tally on Sunday.

“I'm really pleased. After the game in midweek it was disappointing to lose at home and we didn't want to lose back-to-back games here,” he added.

“We didn't want the fans to lose belief in what we're trying to do here and belief in our great team, so we're really pleased win.

“It was against a really good team who finished 8th last year and strengthened again in the window.

“I knew it was going to be a tough game and I went to watch them against Sheffield Wednesday and I thought they were unlucky not to come anyway with something.”
