Rotherham United can confirm that Steve Evans, his staff and the players have expressed their desire to return to the pitch following the final whistle at Saturday’s game against Cardiff City to thank the supporters with a ‘Lap of Appreciation’.

The Millers boss has acknowledged in recent press conferences how tough a season the club’s fans have endured and there is a collective feeling within the first team group that their efforts following the team at home and on the road deserve recognition.

Not only will this period of time present the players and staff with a chance to say thank you, in some cases, it will also be a chance to say ‘goodbye’ to those either out of contract or destined for pastures new in the summer.

The club will also use the post-match opportunity to present the 2023/24 End of Season Awards to their respective winners in front of the supporters.

The awards due to be handed out are the club’s Player of the Season, the Players’ Player of the Season, the Young Player of the Season and the Goal of the Season – as voted on by fans recently – all of which will be presented in association with The Fire House Group.

Honorary Life President John Breckin will hand over the accolades to their respective winners on the hallowed turf at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

We would like to reaffirm the message that supporters MUST stay in the stands to allow the above to take place and remind them that encroaching the pitch either during the game or following the full-time whistle carries sanctions for both the individual and club.
