ROB SCOTT
Former Millers defender Rob Scott returned to the club as Head of Recruitment in April 2019 as part of a recruitment restructure at AESSEAL New York Stadium.
Rob has played an integral role in identifying and recruiting talents such as Dan Barlaser, Matt Crooks and Chiedozie Ogbene just to name a few during his time back in South Yorkshire.
A defender during his playing days, he began his career with Sutton United before moving on to Sheffield United, where he enjoyed loan spells with the likes of Scarborough and Northampton Town before moving back to the capital to join Fulham.
He was at Craven Cottage for two years before first arriving at Rotherham United in 1998. Scott would go on to make over 150 appearances in Rotherham colours, during a period which saw the Millers earn back-to-back promotions from League Two to the Championship and stay their for four seasons.
He played for the likes of Oldham Athletic, Macclesfield Town and Halifax Town before hanging up his boots in 2008. From there, he took his first steps into coaching with Ilkeston Town and earned promotion alongside another former Miller, Paul Hurst.
The pair enjoyed more success together with Boston United, gaining a second successive promotion via the Conference North Play-offs, completing a treble of trophies which also landed them the Northern Premier League Challenge Cup and Lincolnshire Senior Cup.
His good work with the Pilgrims earned him a move to Grimsby Town, where – alongside Hurst – he led the Mariners to the National League Play-offs semi-finals and FA Trophy final, but they were edged out by Newport County and Wrexham respectively.
Since then, Scott has worked in the recruitment departments at Brentford and Watford before returning to the Millers to lead the recruitment department, which has coincided with a flurry of players arriving and subsequently being sold for bumper fees.
